The Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Commentary

If you’re 30 or older, then you likely remember the Y2K scare of January 1, 2000, and the Mayan calendar scare of 2012. These were events where months and years preceding them, many drummed up fear in people that the world was going to end. For those who aren’t following Jesus, these tales of the end were genuinely frightening and had many fearful of what might come.

What’s awesome is that God has already told us how this world, as we know it, will end. It will begin with the taking away of Christ’s Church, then sometime after, the 7-year Tribulation, then at the end of that, the Second Coming of Christ, then Christ’s millennial reign on this Earth, then the final judgment for the wicked, then the New Heaven and New Earth, the eternal state.

There is so much packed into that statement, many hours’ worth of Bible study, but in this study, we will focus on the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ Jesus. Jesus’ warning to us is to not listen when people claim to be Him or state that He is at some location. Because, Jesus has already told us exactly how He will come back to this Earth.

Commentary

Before Jesus returns to this Earth for all to see, He will come back with His saints who died previously and are with Him in spirit. The translation of their/our bodies will take place, soul, spirit, and body reuniting in perfection. Then those saints who are still alive on this Earth will be translated in their/our perfected state, and we will all remain with the Lord forever.

I believe that this is the Rapture of the Church from this Earth, before the 7-year Tribulation begins. I believe that Enoch was a type of the Church, his catching away by God being an example of the Rapture.

Enoch was a man of God, who God removed from this Earth before the flood came (God’s wrath). Just as those in Christ, who are alive at that time, will be taken from this planet, before God’s wrath (7-year Tribulation) hits.

Commentary

As Jesus ascended back into Heaven after His resurrection, angels stood by to inform the apostles that Jesus would also return in the same way. This detail gives us assurance of how He will come back at the end of the Tribulation period.

He won’t be born a baby again, He won’t be reincarnated as something or someone else, but He will descend from Heaven, in a cloud of glory, just as He ascended prior.

This is why it’s so important to know these details, because many have and will continue to claim that Jesus has come back and is in India or was born once more and is a child, awaiting His time of return. If you hear anything like this that does not match up with Scripture, know that it is all lies.

Commentary

Not only is Jesus returning in a cloud of glory, in a similar fashion to his ascension, but He will be returning with us, His holy ones or saints. Jude tells us that Enoch prophesied this at some time before the flood, Zechariah prophesied of it some 2,500 years ago, and John wrote of it about 2,000 years ago.

So the heavens will open, and Jesus will descend in a cloud of glory, with His army of saints in tow. Not only has God given us great detail on how this event will be, but we, as followers of Christ, will be part of it!

Zechariah is writing of the Jewish remnant who will be alive at the time of Christ’s return. They will run for safety from the final Antichrist, and at the end of that time, Jesus will come back to Earth with us, just as Enoch prophesied and Jesus also revealed to John.

Commentary

At the Rapture, only those in Christ will see Him and meet Him in the atmosphere. Jesus will not set foot on Earth at that moment. But when He comes back to establish His Kingdom, at the end of the Tribulation, He will return with us, back to this Earth, and every eye will see Him. There won’t be dodgy rumors or secret gatherings with “messiah”; every single person on Earth at that time will see with their own eyes His return.
