Satisfaction In Christ Jesus

Day 1

1God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you. I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.2So I gaze on you in the sanctuary to see your strength and your glory.
PSALMS 63:1-2 (CSB)

Commentary

In this psalm, David’s heart for God is on full display, echoing the words that so many of us feel toward our God. Voicing that pure need for Christ that every believer should have. That pining and thirst to know our God and to be known by Him, especially in the midst of adversity.

We live in a world that has truly become a dry and desolate land for the follower of Christ. Our hunger and thirst is for the Lord, for our very survival depends on Him, our Sustainer. It’s that thirst and longing for Him that feeds our souls, which carries us through the trials and tribulations of this life.

These are the kinds of verses that bring tears to the believer’s eyes, having too experienced such a longing and eagerness for Christ Jesus. Coming to the realization of one’s weakness and constant need for our loving Father. I hope you can truly say that.

There are a lot of distractions in life, many things that can quickly and easily take the place of Jesus as your first love. Don’t give any of that any power over your heart and mind, keep your full attention on the One who can quench your thirst, strengthen your body and truly satisfy your soul.

Is my heart longing for Jesus?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, as You sustained King David all those centuries ago, You also bring Your providence and provision to me. It’s You who keeps me through the night, Who orders my steps during the day, Who guards me from the plans of the wicked and Who quenches my soul with Your perfect love. Go before me today, Lord, and give me all that I need to make it through this day, for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen

Day 2

3My lips will glorify you because your faithful love is better than life.4So I will bless you as long as I live; at your name, I will lift up my hands.5You satisfy me as with rich food; my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.
PSALMS 63:3-5 (CSB)

Commentary

Though King David suffered some very difficult situations in his life, he never lost sight of God’s blessings, never failing to praise Him for all that He had done for him.

Consider your own life, how has God blessed you? I guarantee that you could make a list of blessings and difficulties and find that the list of blessings is much larger. But we unfortunately tend to dwell on the negative or difficult aspects of our lives, when every day we should be singing praises to the Lord, no matter our current situations.

Christ-follower, you have God’s perfect love over you. Understand that there is nothing better than that. There’s a reason David states that God’s love is better than life, because it is. God’s love is our life.

1The LORD is my shepherd; I have what I need.2He lets me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters.3He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake.4Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff — they comfort me.

Am I singing praises to the Lord every day?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, how wonderful are Your ways! Your love is truly better than life, and I am ever-thankful for Your kindness toward me. Thank You! In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen

Day 3

6When I think of you as I lie on my bed, I meditate on you during the night watches7because you are my helper; I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.
PSALMS 63:6-7 (CSB)

Commentary

No matter if times are easy or tough, our God is here with us. Like a hen protecting her chicks under her wings, our God has gathered those of us who love Him under His protective wings. In this late hour of history, we’re going to endure more and more trouble for our faith. But take heart, my brothers and sisters, we have Jesus! Nothing created can take us from His hand.

1The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.2I will say concerning the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust:3He himself will rescue you from the bird trap, from the destructive plague.4He will cover you with his feathers; you will take refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.5You will not fear the terror of the night, the arrow that flies by day,6the plague that stalks in darkness, or the pestilence that ravages at noon.7Though a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, the pestilence will not reach you.8You will only see it with your eyes and witness the punishment of the wicked.9Because you have made the LORD — my refuge, the Most High — your dwelling place,10no harm will come to you; no plague will come near your tent.11For he will give his angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.12They will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.13You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent.14Because he has his heart set on me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name.15When he calls out to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor.16I will satisfy him with a long life and show him my salvation.

Do I understand that if God is for me, no one can truly be against me?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I think about You at night, when I wake and all through the day. You are my Protector, and I know that in You I have all that I need. That You will be with me always. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen

Day 4

8I follow close to you; your right hand holds on to me.
PSALMS 63:8 (CSB)

Commentary

Are you following Jesus closely? If not, it’s time to start. Give Him all of the things that continue to keep you from walking close to Him and let go of the reins of your life. Even though a believer may be saved, we can easily go off the rails in our walk with Jesus.

King David went off the rails several times. But every time he came back to the Lord in repentance. David understood his need to follow Jesus closely. The closer you are, the less trouble you’re going to get into and the more protection and blessing will be over your life.

I don’t want to alarm you, but we’re entering into a time when even born-again believers, who live in the West, are going to face persecution like we haven’t in a very long time. There is a saturation of evil that is being restrained by the Holy Spirit at this time; it’s seeking to not only harm Jewish people but Christians as well. Time is shorter than any of us realize; make sure your heart is tethered tightly to Jesus, with not even an inch of space between. If He is not currently, make Him your first love once more, as He was the day you said yes to Him.

How’s my walk?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please give me insights into my walk with You. Help me to remove the distractions and to be serious about Your will for my life. I can sense the overwhelming darkness that has fallen upon this world. Help me live in the shadow of Your wings, to be fearless and a light of Christ to those around me. To finish strong for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen

Day 5

9But those who intend to destroy my life will go into the depths of the earth.10They will be given over to the power of the sword; they will become a meal for jackals.11But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by him will boast, for the mouths of liars will be shut.
PSALMS 63:9-11 (CSB)

Commentary

David dealt with many enemies in his life, but understood that in the end God would deal with them. This is a key aspect of our satisfaction in Jesus, that we focus so heavily on Him and His promises that we can truly rest knowing that all is taken care of.

No doubt you and I are going to continue to face trouble in the remainder of our days, but the Lord our God is working His plan. Rejoice today and every day in the reality that God has you and will keep you.

28Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never becomes faint or weary; there is no limit to his understanding.29He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless.30Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall,31but those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.
ISAIAH 40:28-31 (CSB)

Am I resting in and finding strength in Jesus?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for always giving me what I need to endure, to thrive, and to glorify You. Help me to never lose sight of that and to rest knowing that though evil may come my way, You are here with me, and I will be a victor in the end with Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
