God’s Word Is Truth & Never Changes
Day 1
Soul Search
Am I eager to soak up into my heart all of God’s Word?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, if I am not interested in Your Word as I should be or am struggling to understand verses, chapters, or even full books, then please help me to see. Soften this heart to Your precious Word, that it may truly be a lamp for my feet and a light to the path ahead. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
Day 2
Commentary
As I mentioned prior, many have tried hard to discredit the Bible. And you know what, nobody has been able to, and nobody will be able to. Why am I so confident? Because not only does this passage tell us that the Bible is from God and one-hundred percent reliable, but history and archeology are catching up and revealing to us what every believer already knows.
Surely it would take a lifetime or more to fully study all of the evidence that mankind has uncovered about the accounts in the Bible. But here are just a few discoveries that make the case for the Bible.
The Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in Israel between 1946 and 1956, give us an entire Old Testament, minus the Book of Esther. They are dated as early as 300 years before Jesus. The Old Testament alone tells us God’s plan for redemption and gives us insights into history and prehistory. Prophecies like that found in Daniel, Isaiah, Micah, Psalms, and many other books give us great insight into Jesus, from what He’d do to the timing of His first coming. Prophecies so detailed that many have insisted that they were edited or changed after Jesus. But the Dead Sea Scrolls confirm that is not the case.
Other important discoveries include the Nazareth Inscription, the Gallo Inscription from Delphi, the Pilot Stone, and the Caiaphas Ossuary, to name just a few. These are all items that validate important people of the New Testament. This gives us even more confidence that what is written about Jesus is true. Many of these men who are mentioned in these archeological finds are men who played a key role in the account of Jesus, as written in the New Testament.
There is so much evidence that anyone seeking to disprove the Bible, if they took an honest look, would not be able to disprove anything, and perhaps the Lord would touch their hearts with His Word, and they would be so humbled that they would accept Christ.
I think that every believer should be excited to learn more about these Bible-affirming discoveries. Books by Dr. Titus Kennedy and Joel P. Kramer are excellent places to start learning about all of the evidence that has been uncovered in the last 200 years.
Soul Search
If someone asked me why I believe the Bible is God’s Word, what would I tell them?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, not only do You tell us that Your Word is from You and true, but You have allowed many artifacts to remain, which cry out to us that what the Bible says is nothing short of Your Word. Thank You, Father, for giving me a faith that is rooted in fact and not blindness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
Day 3
Commentary
Apostle Peter was an eyewitness to Jesus and lived among Him for several years. Second to physical evidence, there is nothing better than a credible eyewitness. As the Bible states, two or three credible witnesses are all that we need for valid proof of something. With the Bible, we have four Gospel accounts that match up, hundreds of prophetic passages from the Old Testament, and last but not least, the Holy Spirit. These are three credible witnesses that all point to Jesus.
What God’s Word told us about the first coming of Jesus is incredible. Jesus has fulfilled hundreds of Old Testament prophecies so far. Professor Peter W. Stoner, who was Chairman of Mathematics and Astronomy at Pasadena City College, calculated that the probability of any man, from the first century AD onward, fulfilling even 8 of those prophecies would be 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000. It is statistically impossible for just anyone to have lived and done what the Bible said Jesus would do, more proof that this is all from God.
This is why Bible prophecy is so important. Not only is it a witness to the Truth, but there is a lot more that is set to be fulfilled in the future. God wants us to know all about it so that we are prepared as we see these events starting to take shape in the world.
Brothers and sisters, you should be eager and hungry to read and study the Bible, to soak up into your heart God’s every word to you, to understand what His plans are for us.
Soul Search
Am I a student of prophetic books like Daniel and Revelation, which tell us of the fulfillment of history?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You’ve given us every credible witness that we need, more than three even. Help me to share this information with those around me. Use me, Lord, to lead people to Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
Day 4
Commentary
Sadly, there are many Christians or people who at least profess to be such, who say that the Bible is outdated, not fully true, and so on. “Written by men,” they say. What I ask them is, if Genesis is not true, then why would we need a Savior? What would make Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John true then?
It’s convenient for someone who wants to be spiritual but not give up their lifestyle to create a spirituality based on a version of Jesus that they’ve made up. They will discredit the parts of the Bible that they don’t like and retain the parts that feel good to them. While that might seem great, their self-deception has kept them condemned because they are not trusting in the real, true Jesus that God’s Word tells us all about.
You have other Christians like many Roman Catholics who say that Scripture is not enough. While they tend to hold a high view of Scripture, they also place man-made traditions at an equal or greater level. But this verse tells us that faith comes from hearing the message about Christ. That, my friend, is the Bible, that is the message about Jesus, from Genesis to Revelation — nothing else is needed.
The seed of faith is planted in a person’s heart when they are witnessed to by Bible-believing Christians who give them the Truth directly from God’s Word and/or in their own reading of God’s Word. Neither traditions nor lifestyles are going to bring someone to a saving faith; only God’s Word has the power to do such a thing. And it’s a sword that you and I should be wielding with unmitigated confidence, every single day.
Soul Search
Do I understand that the Bible is enough?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You’ve told us that the Bible is all about You. If I am struggling to grasp that, please open my heart to the Truth. Move me out of the way and turn this heart of mine into a sponge that absorbs every last letter of Your precious Word. In Your mighty name, I pray. Amen
Day 5
Commentary
God’s Word was true when it was first spoken, is true today, and will be forever. All the verses about lust, homosexuality, hatred, murder, lying, swindling, and the like, they all still hold true today and will forever. Every single thing that the Bible teaches us about morality, about God’s character, about human nature, and about salvation in Christ Jesus, is one-hundred percent accurate and true for all time.
If you’re a believer, you should hold to a high view of Scripture. You should be helping those who are weak in their Bible knowledge. If you are someone who struggles with the Bible, pray and ask God to help you find wisdom. He wants all believers to know His Word, to look to it for guidance, rebuking, and building up in the faith.
Without this book, which God has provided and preserved, we’d know very little to nothing about our God and Savior. Don’t let Satan and his minions tickle your ear with made-up stories and doubts about the Bible. Don’t let Christian cults like LDS or Jehovah’s Witnesses make you think that the Bible is not the complete revelation of God. Don’t let man-made traditions overtake the very fact that all you need to know about Jesus is His Word — the Holy Bible.
Soul Search
Am I spending time each day getting to know my God through His Word?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please protect my heart from the lies of the enemy. May Your Word be transforming my mind as Your Spirit works on my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
Commentary
For the believer in Christ, the Bible is our compass which points to the True North of Jesus. While there have been thousands of years of people trying to undermine the accuracy and validity of God’s Word, there is no denying that it has a way of facilitating a heart change in men, women, boys, and girls, that nothing else is able to accomplish.
If you are struggling with a moral issue in life, which we all do, then the Bible is the place to turn for guidance. Along with daily prayer, Bible reading and study help the believer to first, better understand the God who we are trusting in for salvation; and second, to get an understanding of how to deal with the moral issues of life.
This verse is not merely the poetic words of the psalmist, but are words of truth and words to live by. The Bible is a gift from God, a book written over the course of roughly 1,600 years, by over 40 authors, who were appointed, inspired, and guided by the Holy Spirit to place in writing God’s complete revelation to mankind.
