History From Head To Toe

All the way back in the time of the prophet Daniel, around 530 BC, God gave the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar a dream that showed His plan for the future of the Jewish people and ultimately mankind. This dream included a statue with sections made of differing materials, each material being less precious the further down it was on the statue. Each material section represents a major world empire. These empires would go on to become less refined and more godless and brutal in their nature.

Most of the empires portrayed in the statue have come and gone. However, this statue does still depict an empire that has yet to come. With all the unrest going on now, it leads many to question why such events are happening all around the world and what the future holds. But God has given us the reason why in His Word, and the high-level future of mankind. In this study, we’ll further explore the final empire depicted in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and where we are currently as it relates to it.

Commentary

From Rome To Today

As we learned previously, the iron legs represent the Roman Empire. Eventually, it was split into two legs, the western portion with Rome as its capital (the Holy Roman Empire), and the eastern portion with Constantinople as its capital (the Byzantine Empire). The legs are a fitting symbol, not only because of the eventual two legs of the empire, but also because legs blend into the feet, and the Roman Empire never was conquered; it collapsed over time from immorality and corruption, and has blended into the rest of the world as we know it today, still influencing our culture and politics. We’re now at the feet of this statue; the world is a mix of strong nations (iron) and weaker nations (clay), but we are not yet (as of writing this) in the final empire, depicted by the ten toes of iron and fired clay.

We’re in this time period when there is no major empire, as the world has known empires in the past, but a world of strong super-power nations and weaker nations of varying levels. We’re in what Jesus called the “times of the Gentiles” (Luke 21:24) and appear to be in the later stages of convergence as Jesus taught, when the wars, rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes, and pestilences that have been going on for thousands of years would continue to increase in frequency and intensity, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and events would converge to the point where the frequency and intensity of these events would clearly show that Jesus is coming again soon. The very fact that so many people are scoffing that Jesus could soon return also indicates the late hour of history that we are in.

Today & Into The Future

These couple of verses give us some very interesting details of the time of the final empire. The first detail comes in the phrase, the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together. The literal meaning of that is mixing of the seed of men. It seems to paint a picture of a time when nations or ethnic groups would be in a fuller state of intermixing, intermarrying, and blending together on a global scale, a push toward the abolishing of borders and a welcoming of a “global community”. While there is nothing wrong with the intermixing and intermarrying between ethnic groups, God created each ethnic group and the boundaries of nations for a purpose, even scattering the people and confusing the language at the Tower of Babel. The globalist cry is very much like the situation that took place at Babel.

Since then, mankind has strived to come back together, but it’s only in the last few hundred years that the boundaries have become so blurred, especially since air travel, and with that there is bound to be cultural conflict, especially at the spiritual level.

The next important detail is in verse 44, In the days of those kings, the God of the heavens will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. This tells us that these things will take place at the end of human history, because Jesus will come and set up His Kingdom, which will have no end. This is to say that we are very close to the end, given what we’re seeing take place in our world today.

What The Future Entails

As this world continues to march toward the “toes” of the statue from Daniel 2, we’re seeing a greater rise in globalist thinking. Politicians, religious leaders, professors, CEOs, celebrities, and more are crying louder and louder for the world to “come together” to solve the issues that we face. The rallying cry seems to be focused most on climate change, population, and pandemics, but many more issues are attached to what is at its heart a socialist, Marxist, and ultimately Satanic agenda. Don’t think for a second that this globalization effort honors Jesus in any way — its driving source is from Satan himself, in order to make way for the final Antichrist (the Beast of Revelation).

These eventual leaders who take over will be given a singular mind to work toward the hand-off of their power to the coming final Antichrist. Amid this globalization of the world, will come an eleventh ruler, who is that final Antichrist, who will be given the authority of seven of the ruling leaders (or kings) and will need to subdue the other three in order to gain their ruling power as well. He will make war with those who reject him and will blaspheme God and His people. What had already started as a desire by wealthy and powerful elites for a man-centered Marxist-style “utopia” will make way for a world empire worse than anything seen prior on this Earth; which will be under Antichrist control for the last 3.5 years of human history as we know it.

The Final Act of Humanity

This empire will be a form of Babylon that will encompass a world religion and political, economic system. The Bible mentions Babylon more than any other city, apart from Jerusalem. Because Babylon was the birthplace of mankind’s organization against God and it serves as the spirit that guides the ways of this world. We’re quickly approaching the time when this evil spirit will reach its climax and God will prevail.

As followers of Christ Jesus, we can rest in the joy of knowing that we are not appointed to God’s wrath. This time coming will be to fulfill all prophecy and usher in God’s wrath on the wicked, then establish His Kingdom. While we are currently witnessing and probably will witness more of this global empire formation, by the time these rulers hand over their authority to Antichrist at the 3.5-year mark of the Tribulation, we will not be on this Earth. We’ll either have shed these tents to be with the Lord long prior or He will have already come to snatch us away from this world before the Tribulation began.
